DescriptionAJ 6610C. The O.E.C.D. Dragon Reactor-Experiment at A.E.E., Winfrith. The Dragon Reactor Experiment has been built by the O.E.C.D. High Temperature Reactor Project, one of the joint undertakings of the European Nuclear Energy Agency. The Project was set up in March 1959 under an agreement between Austria, Denmark, Euratom (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands), Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The main objective of the Dragon Project is the design, construction and operation of a reactor experiment of high temperature, helium cooled, graphite moderated type. Having proved the principles involved, the Project has undertaken design studies for power reactors and continues research and development to ensure earliest possible commercial exploitation.
