说明NEW IAEA DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL APPOINTED Vienna, 28 September 1971 — The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today announced the appointment of Dr. Yuri Fedorovich CHEE ae for the post of Deputy Director General of the IARA's Department of Technical Operations. He succeeds Professor [van Stepanovich Zheludev who was erpeinved to the post in August 1966. Born in 1928, Dr. Chernilin graduated from the lioscow Phot ee of Engineering! : and Physics in 1951 havi ing specialized in. both engineering and physics. Until the end of 1965 he worked at the 1.V, Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy in Moscow and from 1957 to 1965 was head of the Institute's reactor laboratory. From 1965. to 1969 Dr. Chernilin was a Senior Officer in the IAEA's Department of Technical Operations and since 1969 he has been in charge of the research programme on engineering aspects of thermonuclear reactors at the I.V.
