说明AEC-70-8909 ABALONE TRANSFER: More than 14,000 abalones have been removed from the site of a breakwater for Pacific Gas & Electric Company's nuclear power plant under construction near Diablo Canyon in San Luis Obispo County, California. PG&E is building the breakwater to protect the cooling water intake structure for the 1,060,000 kilowatt nuclear plant. Most of the abalones were removed by commercial divers who transplanted them to the ocean bottom off Montana de Oro State Park south of Morrow Bay and to Pecho Rock near Avila. Commercial fishermen voluntarily relocated many of the abalones off the state park where they will be accessible to sport divers working from the shore.
