说明Because of its excellent properties, technetium-99m has quickly become one of the radionuclides used most frequently within nuclear medicine. Normally, it is delivered in the form of a so-called generator system, i.e. the parent nuclide, molybdenum-99, attached to a chromatographic column that is to be eluted by the user each day in order to obtain the daughter, i.e. technetium-99m. The physical half-life of technetium-99m is six hours which is sufficient for a day's work. In spite of the fact that short half life creates difficulties with regard to production and distribution, the Studsvik isotope service has been able to produce sufficiently large quantities to supply Swedish hospitals with a ready-to-use injection solution. This eliminates both extra work and a certain amount of radiation exposure for hospital personnel. This picture shows how the sodium pertechnetate solution is distributed in ready-to-use doses. This work must be carried out five days a week in order to meet the needs of Swedish hospitals. The device being used by especially designed and built at Studsvik for this Purpose. AB Atomenergi.
