说明INDIA #3 - Three hooded Indians move among the rice shoots, multiplying rise yield by clonal propagation. In this method the clones (rice pods), at the top of the stalk, are taken apart and re-planted separately. By repeating the process, within five months one seed can populate an acre. The Cuttack Rice Research Institute of Orissa, India started the method in 1958. Institute is part of the state of Orissa's expanded nutrition program, aided by the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). Calder Dispatch #12 (CREDIT UNICEF PHOTO BY JACK LING)
