Oval shaped area shows Sea of Clouds region on the Moon in which Ranger VII is expected to impact Friday morning, July 31. Dimensions of the area shrink as the spacecraft approaches the lunar surface. Latest trajectory data indicates the camera-carrying Ranger VII will impact within about 15 miles of the aiming point. The calculated impact point is 20.5 degrees West Moon Longitude and 10.5 degrees South Moon Latitude. Ranger VII is a National Aeronautics and Space Administration project to secure close-up television pictures of the Moon’s surface.
