ОписаниеAEC-70-8708 Technicians at Canoga Park, California, inspect the 1,000-kilowatt S8DR compact nuclear reactor built by Atomic International (AI) for the AEC. This versatile type of reactor could furnish electrical power for an orbiting space station, for bases on the moon, or in remote areas of the earth. The second-generation zirconium hydride reactor was operated for 6,680 hours before being shut down in December 1969 for post-test disassembly and analysis that will lead to design of a 25-k2 unit.
