ОписаниеA gift of nuclear material worth about $10,730 has been provided for Argentina under an agreement signed by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Dr. Sigvard Eklund. The agreement had previously been signed in Washington on 13 December 1965 by Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg, Chairman of the US Atomic Energy Commission, and Rear-Admiral O.A. Quihillalt, Chairman of the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission. The gift has been made by the United States, which offered to donate in 1965 special fissionable material up to a value of $50,000 for use in Agency-approved projects to assist and encourage research in peaceful uses of atomic energy. The material for Argentina is for use in the 5 MW(e) Experimental and Isotope Production Reactor which the Agency has helped the Argentine National Atomic Energy Commission to build at Ezeizo. It consists of about 993 grams of uranium hexafluoride and represents about half the fuel required. The other half was given by USA in 1964 and fabricated into fuel elements by Argentina.
