This series of photographs shows some of the main health problems facing this concentration of human beings. Food control; the central market of Tokyo is the biggest fish market in the world. The annual volume of business runs to 480,000 tons of fish (half of it tuna), 860,000 tons of vegetables and 340,000 tons of fruit. Fish in an important item of food in Japan. Health inspectors check the quality of the fish before it is put up for auction. Fish coming from certain parts of the Pacific is checked for atomic radiations.
