DescriptionINDIA # 1- A milk vendor comes out of one of the old stables left in suburbs of Greater Bombay. Cows and buffaloes used to wander around Bombay city where the bacteria count of milk samples was once reported to be higher than that of London sewage water. The modern dairy colony of Aarey, operated by the government, has helped considerably to remove cattle from the streets and to keep a high standard of hygiene in the city’s milk. Some old fashioned stables like this, where men and beasts share their quarters still exist in the suburbs, but the government plans to remove the remaining stables from Greater Bombay.
