DescripciónAEC-70-8755 BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA. . . POSITIVE K-MESON BRANCHING . . . The Magnetostrictive-wire spark chamber Is a filmless chamber. It records particle tracks electronically rather than photographically, and, therefore, normally lacks the spectacular pyrotechnic displays of the optical chambers. The visible sparks seen in this photo from the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, Berkeley, were produced by a small beta radiation source used for calibration tests in the positive K-meson branching ratio experiment; they were photographed with a five second exposure. These test particle tracks appear shorter because the particles are of low energy. Credit: Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, Berkeley
