Descripción(ATM:PCE:MED:THAI*). MEDICAL RESEARCH PROGRAMS IN THAILAND AIDED BY IAEA. UN 62695 - Bangkok, 1959. An International Atomic Energy Agency expert Mr. Norman Veall (United Kingdom), has been working in Bangkok helping Thai medical research teams. Establish procedures in the use of radioisotopes and radioactive tracer techniques. The request for an expert was initiated by the Thai Atomic Energy Commission for Peace through the UN Technical Assistance Board to the IAEA. In one of the pilot experiments carried out, radiocarbon compounds are fed to a snake and the radio-activity count of the extracted snake venom is subsequently checked. The liquid venom is then dried out to give it a crystalline preparation. Here, transferring the various batches of crystalline venom to sealed bottles for long term preservation and further measurements, are (from left): Dr. Romsai SUVANIK and Miss Phenkae RAKTABUTR, R.N. — both of the Department of Radiology at Siriraj Hospital, and Mr. VEALL, the IAEA expert.
