DescripciónAEC-70-8740 OAK RIDGE, TENNESSEE... GALLIUM-67 AS A RADIO-PHARMACEUTICAL... Radioactive agents that may be useful in tumor detection are constantly being sought. This photoscan was made at the Oak Ridge Associated Universities medical division 72 hours after the intravenous injection of gallium-67 as citrate. The distribution of the radioactivity corresponds well with the location of bilateral malignant lumph tissue (darkest areas) in the throat and neck of a 72-year-old patient with Hodgkin's disease, a progressive and fatal enlargement of the lymph nodes, spleen, and other lymph tissue. Studies at ORAU have shown that gallium-67 has an unusual affinity for certain soft tissue tumors. Credit: Oak Ridge Associated Universities
