DescripciónOAK RIDGE, TENNESSEE The ORMAK, a toroidal plasma containment device inspired by the Tokamak of USSR, represents the latest development in Oak Ridge National Laboratorys work towards thermonuclear power. In a composite photo, both the interior and exterior are shown here, with the doughnut-shaped core, made of gold-plated steel, gleaming in the center. Favorable data from ORMAK runs will justify construction of the largest model, the success of which should indicate the feasibility of a fusion reactor.
