CAPE KENNEDY, Fla. - the Atlas–Agena vehicle lifts off its launch pad (Complex 12) at 12:50 EDT carrying the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s 806-pound Ranger B spacecraft on a lunar impact trajectory. Its six television cameras will be turned on Friday July 31, 1984 — fourteen minutes before impact (predicted impact time is 9:45 AM, EST) and transmit back to Earth some 4,OOO pictures of the Moon.
