الوصفNEW APPOINTMENTS AT IAEA Vienna, 24 February 1983 - The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced the appointments of: Mr. Peter M. Tempus of Switzerland as Deputy Director General, Head of the Department of Safeguards. Mr. Tempus will succeed Mr. Hans J. Gruemm (Austria) as of 1 July 1983. Born in 1927 Mr. Tempus started his professional career in 1956 as Chemist at the Shell Oil Company in Amsterdam and the Hague, Netherlands, having obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Berne (Switzerland) in 1956. From 1958-64 he was Deputy Head of the Hot Laboratory Department and Group Leader of Radioisotope Production of the Federal Institute of Reactor Research at Wuerenlingen (Switzerland). Between 1965 and 1971 Mr. Tempus worked as Head of this Hot Laboratory, and from 1971-76 as Deputy Director of the Federal Institute for Reactor Research at Wuerenlingen.
