الوصفAn international project to perfect the use of nuclear radiation in food preservation and insure the safety of irradiated food has been set up jointly by the Austrian Studiengesellschaft fur Atomenergie (SGAE) , the European Nuclear Agency and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the SGAE's Institute of Biology and Agriculture in Seibersdorf near Vienna. Ten ee are taking part: Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and USA. The photo shows some of the rats used to test irradiated fruit juice for -wholesomeness at the Institute of Biology and Agriculture. — Fruit juice has been chosen as the "model substance" because the microorganisms it contains are well known and common to other foodstuffs, its constituents are easily isolated and are also found in other food. In addition, fruit juices are of increasing importance in their own right. March 1968/No.1 PLEASE CREDIT PHOTO SGAE
