الوصف1. Photo 1 A maize field showing the damage caused by sheet erosion. The erosion occurred as a result of two closely associated rain storms. The first storm occurred 22/2 2pm and involved a total of 15 mm with a maximum intensity of 30 mm/h and a duration of one hour. The next storm came 12 hours later on 23/2 when 42 mm fell in 1 1/2 hours with a maximum intensity of nearly 100 mm/h according to the recorder at the meteorological station about 1 km away from the field. Almost a third of this field of newly planted maize was damaged. (12/3 1978)
