الوصفAEC-70-8790 SPACE REACTOR. . .This is the type of compact nuclear reactor (S8DR) that can produce electrical power for use in space. About the size of a 50-gallon drum, the zirconium hydride reactor was built for the AEC by North American Rockwell’s Atomics International Division in Canoga Park, California. This type of reactor could provide electricity (25 to 50 kw.) for orbiting space stations, deep space scientific probes and bases on the moon as veil as for remote terrestrial uses.
