DescriptionBrazilian delegation handing over a flag acknowledging IAEA help after a nuclear accident. The flag is the only one in the world with the radioactive symbol. It is the flag of the Brazilian city of Abadia de Goias, where the waste repository was constructed after the Goiania accident in 1987. It was only a district until 1995 when it became a city and therefore needed a new flag. Mr. J.J. Rozental (centre) who was the Emergency Co-ordinator at the time of the accident and became a hero among the local population, presented the flag to the IAEA on 9 March 2000.
