DescriptionNORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORPORATION Atomics International Division 8900 DeSoto Avenue Canoga Park, California 91304 NAI-10 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SPACE STATION -- A compact nuclear reactor, similar to the S8DR now undergoing tests near Canoga Park, Calif., could furnish the electrical power for an orbiting manned space station, such as the one shown above in an artist's rendering. Built by North American Rockwell's Atomics International Division for the AEC, the reactor would be located, in this concept, at the narrow tapered end of the space station. Astronauts would work and live in the bottom third of the craft, approximately between the docking points of the two Apollo-type transport spacecrafts. Attached to the bottom of the space station is a planned unmanned research satellite. WCL050669 SUBJECT: SPACE STATION
